Belize

Belize is an independent country located on the east coast of Central America on the Yucatan Peninsula. Bounded to the north by Mexico, west and south by Guatemala and east by the Caribbean Sea. Belize western part of the country has dense jungle which is home to an abundance of flora, fauna, mayan ruins and cave systems. Offshore of Belize is the massive Belize Barrier Reef boasting the largest living reef in the western hemisphere and extending beyond 174 miles of along Belize coast line. Belize is dotted with hundreds of low-lying islands called cayes which is home to a vast amount of rich marine life. Belize is part of the Mundo Maya World and is home to popular Mayan ruins such as Xunantunich and Caracol renowned for their towering pyramids. Other popular mayan temples in Belize includes Lamanai; and Altun Ha, located north of Belize City.
